It's been a few years since the last Real World conference and I have to admit that I didn't realize how much I missed it until I was there. While we're all interconnected in this modern world of telecommunications, there's still something very special about meeting people in person. When those people happen to be as fanatical about Real Studio programming as you, then it's priceless.
I liken going to Real World to being away in a foreign country where few speak your native tongue and finally returning home, even if it's only for a few days. Finally you're around people who know what you're talking about when you mention the

you're making or that tricky issue with introspection that's not working the way you expect. It's so refreshing. You find much in common with your fellow travelers, and many will even offer suggestions to help you fix that pesky bug that's been plaguing you.A New Flavor
Previous Real Worlds were always in Austin, Texas, so this one had a new flavor as it was held in Orlando, Florida, home to Disney World. Perhaps that was appropriate, heading to a fantasy land to be swayed by Geoff Perlman's reality distortion field....
I'd never been to Florida, but I can't say that Orlando's the best place to go to experience the state. It's very touristy and expensive, though since I didn't have a car, I saw little other than the airport and the hotel. Austin seemed to have a more unusual vibe, something unique, while Orlando was your typical busy tourist destination.
