Though it may seem like little has outwardly changed, we've entered a new era. Xojo is here. The IDE is free, which I believe is going to make a huge difference in Xojo's popularity as a development platform. With no barrier to entry, anyone can learn to program with Xojo now. You also may have noticed that this magazine's name has changed: we're now
xDev Magazine !As I wrote last time, I wanted to separate myself a little from Xojo by not using the Xojo product name in my title, since that causes search engine confusion. xDev can stand for
Xojo Developer orCross-platform Developer , your choice. Our new domain name is
xdevmag.com , though, of course, the previous domains still work the same (permanent links to past articles still function). The magazine is basically the same, though I've redesigned it slightly (like the new endmark), and I'm in the process of updating all website references toxdevmag.com andRSD toxDev Magazine ... which may take some time, so don't be alarmed if you still see the occasional Real Studio reference. In This Issue
There's a little bit of everything in this one. Richard Duke condenses his XDC 2013 presentation on successful Xojo businesses, and Jens Bendig explains his blackjack simulator. I write about all the free "new" features everyone gets with Xojo (such as profiling, which used to be enterprise-only). I also cover using the new Xojo forums in Beginner's Corner, plus there's great stuff from our other columnists. Enjoy!
