Evaluate Your Hardware
These days more people buy laptops than desktops. I suppose that makes sense as laptops can be more useful and practical than a desktop that is chained to a specific location. But I still prefer working from a desktop.
Being a software developer usually requires having decent hardware, so here are some things to consider when upgrading or looking at a new computer.

The single biggest improvement you can make to your computer is to replace its standard spinning hard drive with a solid state drive (SSD). An SSD is fast and quiet. And it's not just a
little faster than a hard drive. It is easily ten times faster! And it's not just a little quieter. It is completely silent.
