Last month the U.S. had its first nationwide solar eclipse in nearly 100 years—and I was fortunate enough to live in the path of the totality! I had no idea what to expect and I wish I'd been better prepared, but it still was an interesting experience. My favorite part was the way everyone in the community gathered as one to enjoy this remarkable astronomical event. Next time I'll order solar lenses for my cameras far in advance!

In This Issue

I'd originally planned to cover the Mac's Touch Bar back in January, but the feature just didn't work right. Finally with recent MacOS updates, you can now use the Touch Bar with Xojo apps, so here's my article on how to do that.

We also go along with Mattias Sandstrom as he solves a mystery, Thomas Tempelmann shows how to use weakrefs to optimize your tree structures, and JC Cruz explores exporting to XML with his health data sharing project.

In our columns, Paul takes a look at Xojo 2017r2, Craig continues his bit on the pg_dump backup tool, Scott returns with a new Open & Free column on SQLBuilder and ActiveRecord, and I cover my attempts to get Xojo's new custom code formatting feature to work. Enjoy
