In the last issue I explained the surprising difficulties of creating a numbers-only textfield, so this time we will get into the nitty-gritty of our
NumbersOnlyField
.The first question we need to ask is exactly what features do we want to implement? After all, if we are going to all this trouble, then it makes sense to do it properly once and be done with it for the foreseeable future... or at least cover all eventualities that we can think of at the moment. My wish list includes some options:
- allow only integers
- allow decimals
- allow negative numbers
- allow leading zeroes (I really dislike them, but somebody else might need them)
