Full text of article...

Summer is a time for warm weather, vacations, and relaxing... which I do, though this particular time is quite busy. In May, I built a microcamper from a cargo van (see Tim's interview with me on page 62) so I can do more hiking and camping this summer, and now in the middle of xDev production, the soccer gods have seen fit to throw two major tournaments my way, the European Championships and Copa America. It's a good thing I'm great at multitasking!

There's also a brand new version of Xojo just out, but I haven't had time to explore it yet.

In This Issue

Our cover story is continuing my Design Pattern series, this time focusing on the cool Observer pattern, that lets you spy on your variables.

I also write about Apple's recent WWDC announcements, particularly AI (Apple Intelligence) where I explore some of the possible ramifications for Xojo developers.

In our other features, Eugene shows off how to control your home lighting with a Raspberry Pi. We've started out small in this series, but now we're getting to some really cool, advanced stuff!

Finally, Tim Dietrich shares his thoughts on commenting code.

In our columns, Tim interviews yours truly (I swear this was entirely his own idea). Paul goes over multitasking in Xojo, and Stefanie explains how to do Text Recognition on MacOS with the MBS plugins. I am getting interested in so-called "AI" and so I test out using ChatGPT in Xojo to check your writing for errors. Enjoy!
