Thanks to everyone who wished me well after my health issues prior to the last issue. I am happy to report that things are good. My broken ribs have healed, and so far, my eye that had the detached retina seems to be okay.

There is some vision loss, which is normal, and once my eye settles, I'll look into how much of that is correctable. Right now, I mainly notice the vision issues when using the computer, especially after long periods, but switching my Mac to Dark Mode has helped.

In This Issue

I've been wanting to try porting some old BASIC games to Xojo, and this time I thought I'd tackle the "simple" game of Mancala. It was not as easy as I thought! Read on for the process.

In another article, I explain how I added support for preemptive threads to my HTML-to-PDF converter, which I wrote about in xDev 11.1. This dramatically speeds up the conversion of large batches of files.

Eugene is back with more Raspberry Pi fun. This time, he shows how to use Xojo on a Raspberry Pi 5 to control the Raspberry Pi Pico WH running MicroPython to perform different tasks.

Finally, Tim Dietrich returns with another entry in his new series, "The Business of Xojo," where he provides tips on how to find clients for your Xojo consulting business.

In our columns, Tim has a fantastic interview with Xojo's own Geoff Perlman. It's a must-read for all Xojo fans. Plus, Stefanie begins a two-part series on creating a Pong-like "tennis" game in Xojo, Paul shows how to use the GameInput classes, and I write about how to create custom sorting methods. Enjoy!
